Ray.BBDM is currently managing a search process for SBM Offshore, based in Porto, looking for an Indirect Procurement IT Category Manager. Our client is a large multinational company that operates in the energy sector and is a leader in its niche market, operating in all phases of the product's life cycle, covering the entire value chain. Reporting to the Head of Indirect Procurement, you will be responsible for the entire “sourcing-to-contract” activities on the IT Categories and working hand-in-hand with the P2P teams.
Challenge:
The company is accelerating the transformation of its Global Indirect Procurement to develop end-to-end efficiencies and value for the business, notably through:
- The creation of the Sourcing-to-Contract activities both globally and locally (countries/regions) as a key pillar to that new Indirect procurement and global organisation.
- The professionalisation of the existing P2P process.
- To accelerate this transformation, the company has defined a new operating model whereby Global indirect procurement Category Managers play a key leadership role with internal stakeholders and local/regional indirect procurement team.
- The IT Category Manager will be part of a newly created team, with a unique opportunity to influence leaders at the global level and provide high value to the business while having a very high exposure within the whole SBM organisation, thanks to the mandate given to Indirect Procurement.
Responsibilities and Mais Tasks:
1- Category Management
- Identify and assess the IT Categories' needs, risks, opportunities, and purchasing processes.
- Co-design, structure, and develop the Global IT procurement strategy with the IT teams and relevant stakeholders in alignment with the new vision and strategy of the Global Indirect procurement. You will conduct all the relevant taskings related to Category Management:
- Demand management.
- Category assessment versus the external benchmark.
- Risk and opportunities (short terms to medium terms).
- Relevant sourcing strategy by subcategory/initiatives, contracting, execution and implementation.
- Set up and update KPI and Dashboard to ensure and demonstrate the Category Performance.
- Once validated, build, and align with the Head of Indirect Procurement and the Global IT Key stakeholders, a multiyear roadmap while onboarding all 3rd parties – both internal and external stakeholders – to ensure its implementation and measure the Performance (KPI, dashboard, balanced scorecard).
2 - Implementation of the Roadmaps and Action Plans:
- You will be responsible for the implementation of action plans at both global and local levels (country/region), either executing it on your own (in coordination with global IT Teams) and/or coordinating it with local/regional indirect procurement buyers:
- Define, implement, and execute robust action plans to reach expected goals in terms of cost, value and benefits for the business, quality and time performance, compliance and ESG Goals (IT sustainability)
- Suggest and agree with relevant stakeholders and team members on the proper level of involvement of indirect procurement to ensure its governance and execution of the strategy and associated action plans, results versus target.
- Define and agree on the sourcing strategy: run RFx and any convenient sourcing approach to achieve both quantitative and qualitative agreed targets.
- Improve vendor management relationships (i.e., SLA commitments, innovations, compliance, ESG…. etc.)
- Implement/improve contract life cycle management.
- Improve and implement any specific dashboard, KPI.
- Provide transparency, monitor, and track record of the results against corporate goals (cost versus budget/targets, quality, time, ESG (i.e.., “IT Sustainability Program”), while working closely with IT stakeholders, as well as Cost controllers
- Refresh and update the strategy and roadmap to bring the category to the next maturity level.
- Ensure that complex and strategic global projects (new ERP, Digital transformation) get the right level of support and involvement from indirect procurement (supplier selection, cost optimisation, value for the business, suppliers’ performance, and contract review …etc.) for the success of these strategic projects.
3 - Contribute actively to the new Indirect Procurement activities:
- Act accordingly to ensure the implementation of the new Indirect procurement Governance within SBM Offshore.
- Promote indirect procurement activities in your category: Demonstrate key results and value creation, feeding indirect procurements KPIs and Dashboard (cost savings, supplier performance, contract life cycle…) while developing specific Balance Score Cards to your category to improve track records and decision-making for your IT stakeholders,
- Develop and share IT procurement expertise and provide updates on Supplier Market Intelligence in your category, such as Cost, Service improvement, the added value that fits with the company’s business needs, innovations, and best practices of the players.
- Be a key team player of the “One Indirect procurement team”, notably:
- Feeding the new Global Indirect procurement strategy while implementing the TOM globally.
- Updating/participating in creating new governance, processes, and tools.
- Work closely with P2P Team to ensure that the E2E process and communication flow are always efficient, maintaining adequate control.
- Ensure the “once voice communication” through the company to promote indirect procurement activities and ensure that all processes are understood and applied.
Job Requirements:
- 10 years’ experience in procurement, from at least 7 years in Indirect Procurement on IT, mainly Software, digitalisation and transformation programs.
- Track records in Negotiations, Contract life cycle, Supplier management, and procurement value chain.
- Autonomy in building IT Category strategy and its roadmap – A candidate with track records on the different taskings of Category Strategy may also be considered to later become our Global IT Category Manager, depending on the potential and motivation of the candidate.
- Bring strategic vision while being result oriented in the operational implementation.
- Experienced in a role involving global exposure.
- Good knowledge of ISO 20400 and Supplier risk and compliance are a plus.
- Past experience or exposure to ERP implementation is a plus.
- Fluency in English.
